The Independent has produced a seven-part series which looks at the basics of using a PC. While many of us encounter computers in a working environment, we tend to use them to perform the same repetitive tasks and we don’t always get to fully explore those possibilities that open up when you buy your own and access it at home.
This series will take you right from the initial decisions - choosing a system, setting it up and getting connected to the internet - right through to such seemingly difficult applications as creating your own online photo album, finding new music or even making a video call to the other side of the world.
The first 36-page magazine is free with The Independent on Saturday 8 September. The second magazine, focusing on the internet, is free with The Independent on Sunday, on Sunday 9 September.
