The former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has never read a book in her life, she has told a Spanish magazine. In the article, she said: "I haven't read a book in my life. I don't have the time. I prefer listening to music, although I do love fashion magazines."

The admission may surprise fans who bought her 528-page autobiography Learning to Fly. According to its cover blurb, Ms Beckham was inspired by the movie Fame. "A line from the theme song stayed with her - 'I'm gonna live for ever, I'm gonna learn how to fly.' With this amazing book she gives us the chance to fly alongside her on her journey from lonely teenager to international star," it says.

The 31-year-old wife of the England football captain, David Beckham, told the interviewer she was keen to have a daughter. She has three sons - Brooklyn, six, Romeo, two, and six-month-old Cruz - and would like a girl. She could imagine "painting her nails, putting on make-up and choosing clothes" with her.

Victoria said of the attention paid by other women to her husband: "He is very good looking, he dresses very well, he is great with children and he has an enormous heart.I am not jealous and when people look at him, I think it's because he's great."

The interview will appear in Chic magazine.
